F.A.Q.

WHAT IS A SEWING PATTERN?

In sewing and fashion design, a sewing pattern is the template from which the parts of a garment are traced onto fabric before being cut out and assembled. Our sewing patterns are digital files that come as multi-page PDF printouts in A4 or A0 paper. We do not sell actual physical garments.

WHAT ARE PDF PATTERNS AND DO YOU SELL PRINTED PATTERNS?

We only offer sewing patterns in PDF file format. We do not print, package or distribute paper patterns. A PDF-pattern is a full scale sewing pattern, broken up into individual pages, printed and then taped back together to create a complete pattern sheet. We offer two paper sizes A4 or A0. Your pattern comes in a series of standard sizes; for example UK4, UK6, UK8, etc. These sizes are normally available as individual PDF files allowing you to print each pattern size separately. You will also receive a separate printing guide and a set of instructions with your pattern pack.

PDF-patterns are great when you want to access your patterns immediately. They are also less costly, and you don’t need to worry about shipping and handling fees. You can also print them as many times as you wish and make amendments without losing the original pattern. Please note that you will need Acrobat Reader or similar software to open PDF files. You can download Acrobat Reader for free here.

All our sewing patterns come with 1cm or 3/8 seam allowance included and are visible on all pattern pieces, unless stated on the pattern itself. ( jersey blocks come with 0.5cm or 1/4 seam allowance and should be constructed using an overlocker

WHAT IS THE RIGHT SIZE FOR ME?

To find the best standard size that fits you, please refer to our standard size guide. Alternatively, to discover which particular pattern size suits your figure best, refer to the finished size guide specific to each sewing pattern - You can find the finished size guide as a link on the product page, or contained within your instruction pack. Please be aware it’s not often that a size fits perfectly. It’s common practise to amend your pattern slightly to get a perfect fit.

I'VE ORDERED A PATTERN BUT DIDN'T RECEIVE THE LINKS - WHAT DO I DO?

Once you payment has been processed Your PDF should become available for download immediately after your payment has been confirmed. It will appear in the payment confirmation screen. Alternatively,  you will receive your PDF download link via e-mail.  If the message hasn’t arrived in your mail box after a couple of minutes, then please check your junk folder - sometimes e-mail clients such as Hotmail and g-mail will treat emails containing links as malicious and automatically add them to your spam folder. If you still can’t locate the email, then please contact us at contact contact@ralphpink.com. Please include your order number, so we can find it easily.
